With unwavering hope in Christ and belief in the resurrection, we announce the home-going of Polly Diane Snipes Payne on Monday morning, December 9, 2024. A devoted wife, loving mother, adored grandmother, cherished great-grandmother, and dear friend to many is now resting in the arms of our Lord, who welcomed her into eternal peace. She was married to the love of her life, Robert W. Payne, for 55 years. They made their home in Kershaw, a community they dearly loved. Together, they had two sons: Teddie Payne (Lori); Eddie Payne (Greg Bearden); six grandchildren: Jessica Payne Holbrook (Taylor); McKinsey Payne Smith (Curtis); Nolan Wilson (Jasmine); Kaleigh Payne Sexton (Chevis); Alex Clark; Zach Clark; nine great-grandchildren: Payton, Lucy, Barron, Drennon, Baker, Beau, Emory, Evie Kate, and Teddie James. She is also survived by siblings Larry (Annette), Clifford (Patty), and sister-in-law, Linda. “Mimi” was a wonderful grandmother who filled hearts with endless love, home cooked meals, and intentional words of wisdom. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and could often be found laughing and playing with her great-grandchildren. Diane spent most days in the Hair Shoppe with her many beloved friends and clients. For over 40 years, she worked as a trusted hairdresser and confidante to all who entered her shop. She considered each of her clients family and was honored to share life with them. She is predeceased by husband, Robert; father, Grover Snipes; mother, Tizzy Snipes; brother, Sam Snipes. The family would like to express thanks and gratitude to many close friends for their visits and loving acts of kindness.
The family will receive friends at Baker Conference Center on Thursday, December 12, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The Funeral Service will begin immediately following the visitation beginning at 3:00 in the Conference Center. The burial will follow in Kershaw City Cemetery. Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Karesh at Beechwood, 40 Lindsay Lane, Camden, S.C. 29020.
