Phyllis N. Coppedge

Phyllis Nations Coppedge, age 90, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away, Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at MUSC Kershaw Health, Camden, S.C. Born in Concord, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Hubert Hoyt Nations and Bernice Loyd Nations. She was married to the late Pastor Donald Walton Coppedge. Mrs. Coppedge was a retired educator. She taught for over 30 years. She received her master’s degree from Winthrop College. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Kershaw, where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. She cherished the time she spent with her family. Mrs. Coppedge was a devoted pastor’s wife and prayer warrior. Her deep faith and love for the Lord will be her legacy.


She is survived by 3 children, Donna C. (Larry) Vincent, Paula C. (Foster) Truesdale and Philip W. (Deborah) Coppedge; 9 grandchildren, Ben (Margie) Vincent, Jennifer Lloyd, Susan (Tommy) Mullis, C.F. (Laura) Truesdale, Anna Lisa (Brandon) Cavins, Katie Truesdale, Haley Coppedge, Trace Coppedge and Selah Coppedge; 15 great grandchildren, Alejandro, Gabriel, Isabelle, Charlotte, Penelope, Anderson, Rileh, Thea, Forest, Payton, Sarah, Hannah, Justine, Jessica and Jeanie. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Gloria (Barney) Burnside and her sister-in-law, Shirley Langley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Betty (Martin) Warren and brother-in-law, Furman Langley.


The family will receive friends, Monday, January 9, 2023, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. in Sand Hill Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.


A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 9, 2023, following the visitation in Sand hill Baptist Church sanctuary. The Revs. Michael Owens and Bryant D. Fersner will officiate.


Burial will follow in the Buffalo Baptist Church Cemetery.


Memorial remembrances in memory of Mrs. Coppedge may be made to the church of your choice.
