Funeral services for Philip Dean “Phil” Hinson, 58, of Kershaw, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 20, 2012, in Buffalo Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Revs. James Way, Donald Coppedge and Mr. Stanley Hinson will officiate. Mr. Hinson died Friday, May 18, at his home following a battle with cancer. Born in Camden, he was the son of the late Guy Crawford and Mary Robinson Hinson. Mr. Hinson worked in construction, roofing and drilling. He was also an avid vegetable gardener. Surviving are his daughter, Lillian “Lilli” Johnson of Kershaw, 4 sisters; Terry H. (Olin) Robinson, Elgin; Kay H. (Jackie) Vincent, Kershaw; Reba H. (Michael) Lemmons, Fallbrook, CA.; Lisa H. (Mike) Williams, Heath Springs; a brother, Guy Stanley (Becky) Hinson, N. Charleston; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Mary Beth Johnson. The family will receive friends, Saturday, May 19, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home and other times at the home, 7806 Haile Gold Mine Road, Kershaw.
