A service to celebrate the life of Pauline Augusta Rector “Polly” Lee, 91 of Kershaw will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 27, 2013, in Kershaw City Cemetery. Rev. Bryant D. Fersner will officiate. Mrs. Lee, widow of Charles Eugene “Gene” Lee died Thursday, October 24, 2013, at Springs Memorial Hospital, Lancaster. Born in Stony Point , N.C., she was the daughter of the late Jess and Bessie Martin Rector. Mrs. Lee in her early years was a telephone operator and worked in an ammunitions factory during World War II. Prior to moving to Kershaw in the 1960’s she was a employee of Joe Weatherly Stock Car Museum in Darlington, S.C. She and her late husband owned and operated the Western Auto Store in Kershaw for many years. Mrs. Lee was a member of First Baptist Church where she served in various capacities. She also loved flowers and gardening. Surviving are her son, Michael Lee of Kershaw and his former wife Lynn; a granddaughter, Jacqueline Augusta Lee of Columbia; a sister, Billie Cober of Statesville, N.C. and 2 nephews, Gary Rector and Randy Lee. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Lillian Rector and Catherine Foy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the cemetery.
