Paul Blackmon Cauthen, 86, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away, Thursday morning, January 28, 2021, at Maple Leaf Health Care, Statesville, N.C.

Born in Kershaw, S.C., he was a son of the late Robert Andrew Cauthen and Jessie Lee Blackmon Cauthen. Mr. Cauthen worked for Springs Industries for 40 years. He was a faithful member of Hanging Rock United Methodist Church.

Mr. Cauthen loved spending time outdoors, hunting, working in his shop and watching Clemson University and Carolina Panther football. He loved spending time with his family and was excited to spend time with his great grandchildren. Mr. Cauthen never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. He especially enjoyed meeting his friends at Bo jangles each day for breakfast.

Mr. Cauthen is survived by his daughter, Paula Cauthen Massenburg, her husband, Eric Bayly Massenburg of Statesville, N.C.; granddaughter, Meagan Elise Waylett, her husband, Matteson Cole Waylett of Mooresville, N.C.; grandson, Ryan Eric Massenburg, his wife, Brooke Hayes Massenburg of Stony Point, N.C.; great grandchildren, Maddox Elise Waylett, Matteson Crew Waylett, Lydia Brooke Massenburg and Mason Ryan Massenburg (due in May 2021), Baby Boy Waylett (due in June 2021); a brother, Henry Cauthen, his wife, Peggie of Kershaw, S.C.; brother-in-law, Randolph Mackey, his wife, Joyce of Kershaw, S.C.; brothers-in-law, Bill Coates of Kershaw, S.C. and Mike Roberts and wife Priscilla of Lugoff, S.C.

Mr. Cauthen was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 63 ½ years, Betty Roberts Cauthen; his sister, Jessie Robert Cauthen Mackey; his brother, Lucius Cauthen and a niece, Barbara Alicia Balkcum.

Friends may pay their respects and sign the register on Monday, February 1, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home. The family will not be present.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at Hanging Rock United Methodist Church Cemetery. Reverend Keith Coates and Randy Mackey will be officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery. All attendees are requested to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
