Patrick Haile Ussery

Patrick Haile Ussery, age 88, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away, Friday morning, August 25, 2023, at his home. Born in Kershaw, S.C., he was a son of the late Ralph Thurston Ussery and Mary Elizabeth Haile Ussery. He retired as a Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force. He later worked for the United States Postal Service. Mr. Ussery was a member of Beaver Creek Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder.

He is survived by his son, John Thurston Ussery, Sr.; his stepchildren, Lynda Lee Mazzone, Andrew David Newton, John Leonard Newton, and James Cameron Newton; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; his siblings, James Pruitt Ussery, Luanne Ussery, Rondall Thurston Ussery, Martha Ussery, Charles Mumford Ussery, Barbara Ussery Ogburn and Donna Ussery Sawyer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Lee Ussery and siblings, Jennie Lind Ussery and Mary Leigh Cicotello.

A funeral service for Mr. Ussery will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 30, 2023, in the sanctuary of Beaver Creek Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dr. Rodney A. Foster will officiate. Burial will follow in the Beaver Creek Cemetery with military honors.

Friends may pay their respects, Tuesday, August 29, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home.

The family will greet friends following the committal service in the church building.
