Norman Adams

Graveside services for Norman Adams, 81 of Cayce, SC will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2013, in Kershaw City Cemetery, Kershaw, SC. The Revs. Jimmy Adams and Kennith Adams will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery. Mr. Adams passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013, at his home. Born in Kershaw, SC, he was the son of the late Luther Franklin and Carrie Newman Adams. He graduated from Kershaw High School and the University of South Carolina. He was a member of State Street Baptist Church in Cayce. Mr. Adams was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He retired from the City of Columbia as Director of Public Services. Mr. Adams served on the Board of Directors of the South Carolina State Credit Union for the past 25 years. He also was President of Hidden Valley Country Club for 13 years. Norman enjoyed golfing, traveling and meeting with his friends. Survivors include his wife; Mary Ann Fletcher Adams, his daughter; Susan Wilkes of Columbia and three grandchildren; Keith (Kristen) Wilkes of Alpharetta, GA., Kollin Wilkes of Lexington, and Kathleen Wilkes of Columbia, three great grandchildren; Kayla, Kyleigh and Kolten Wilkes of Alpharetta, GA and one brother; William (Jean) Adams of Kershaw. He was preceded in death by his sister and brother- in- law; Oveida (Johnny) Connell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
