Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Camden. Mrs. Faulkenberry, widow of Leonard Edsel “Ed” Faulkenberry, died on Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at KershawHealth in Camden. Born in the Buffalo section of Kershaw County, she was the youngest child of John Franklin and Victoria Baker Roberts. She graduated from Kershaw High School in 1950, was president of her class and always remained close to her classmates. She and Ed married in 1949, and soon after he entered the armed forces, serving in the Korean conflict. For many years after his return they lived in Pennsylvania and Ohio, following his work in the steel industry. They relocated to South Carolina in 1977 and opened L & N Installations. Ed passed away in 2005. Nola was always active in church, civic and political groups and maintained those interest even after limited mobility kept her mostly homebound. Surviving are her son, Russell K. Faulkenberry and his wife, Laurie, of Watauga, Texas: two grandchildren, Michael and Kimberly Faulkenberry, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Wade, Samuel and Oneil, and a sister, Bernice Gardner. The family will receive friends from six until seven-thirty p.m. on Friday, December 20 at Baker Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
