Nella Stover Small

Nella Margaret Stover Small, after 92 years of a truly blessed life and surrounded by the love of her family passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2010. The daughter of the late Sally Mahalia Cauthen and John Truesdale Stover, she was born in Heath Springs, SC on March 27, 1918, and lived most of her life in Kershaw, SC.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter Curtis Small; her oldest child, Curtis David Small; and her four sisters and six brothers.
Survivors include three daughters, Sylvia Small Hinson of Columbia; Jean Small Steen and her husband, John, of Conway; Sally Margaret Small McPherson and her partner, Alex Humphrey, of Holden Beach, NC; one son, Walter Ronald Small and his wife, Jan, of Rock Hill; a daughter-in-law, Myra Small of Kershaw;
Her ten grandchildren; David Alan Small and his wife, Lyn, of Charleston ; Susan Hinson Cohen and her husband, Gary, of Charleston; Ronald Glen Small and his wife, Cheryl, of Van Wyck; Jane Hinson Carter and her husband, Len, of North Augusta; Martha Small Allcott and her husband, Kevin, of Naperville, IL; Mary Margaret Small Thomas and her husband, Peter, of Norcross, GA; Walter Lee Small and his wife, Camille, of Franklin, TN; Dwight David McPherson and his wife, Seana, of Norcross, GA; Elizabeth McPherson Donehue and her husband, Brian, of Oklahoma City, OK; and Rebecca Jean Steen of Cary, NC
Fifteen great grandchildren, William Curtis Small and his wife Lauren; Regan Joyce Allcott, Erin Alexandra Allcott, Amelia Jane Carter, Benjamin Boyd Carter, James Bradley Cohen, Sarah Margaret Thomas, Kate McLaurin Thomas, Anne Marie Thomas, Elizabeth Parker Small, Bridget Noel Small, Covington Ward McPherson, Austin Lee McPherson, Sally Carolyn Donehue, and Sidney Katherine Donehue.
The service celebrating Mrs. Smalls life will be held at First Baptist Church in Kershaw on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at 2:00 pm. Visitation with the family will follow the church service in the Fellowship Hall.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Morningside of Lancaster for the loving care that was shown to Mrs. Small during her three years there.
