Nell Catoe Clyburn

Nell Clyburn, 98, of Liberty Hill, widow of William (Tommy) Clyburn, passed away, Sunday, February 2, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Ernest Milton Catoe, Sr. and the late Stella Mungo Catoe. She was born in Kershaw, S.C. on October 26, 1915. Mrs. Clyburn was a graduate of Kershaw High School, attended Winthrop University and the Extension Division of the University of South Carolina. She retired as secretary of Flat Creek area schools. Mrs. Clyburn was a member of Kershaw First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Kershaw Garden Club. Mrs. Clyburn is survived by two sons, Mickey Clyburn and his wife Melinda of Liberty Hill, Charles Clyburn and his wife Cindy of Murrells Inlet; three grandsons, Andy Clyburn and his wife Lori of Rock Hill, Scott Clyburn and his wife Cindi of Edgemoor, Charles Clyburn and his wife Erica of Lyman and one granddaughter, Ashleigh Cordray and her husband Ty of Hilton Head Island; five great grandsons, Colton Clyburn of Rock Hill, Jake Clyburn and Sam Clyburn of Edgemoor, Nathan Clyburn and Knox Clyburn of Lyman and one great-granddaughter, Carsyn Clyburn of Rock Hill. She is also survived by a sister, Betty Williams of Myrtle Beach ; one sister-in-law, Polly Williams of Raleigh, N.C. and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Ernest Milton Catoe, II, a sister Connie Hunter and a granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Clyburn. A memorial service for Mrs. Clyburn will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at Baker Conference Center, 105 North Minor Street, Kershaw. A family burial will be in the Kershaw City Cemetery prior to the service. The family will receive friends following the service at Baker Conference Center. The family would like to thank Morningside of Camden and KershawHealth Hospice for the loving care and concern given to their mother. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kershaw First United Methodist Church, 305 West Church Street, Kershaw, S.C. 29067.
