A funeral service for Nancy Baker Phillips, 79, of Bethune, SC, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 19, 2017, at Bethune Presbyterian Church, Bethune, SC. The Rev. Dr. Guy Oliver will officiate. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery, Kershaw, SC.
Mrs. Phillips, loving wife of the late Hazel Willard Phillips died Monday, May 15, 2017, at her home. Born in Rock Hill, SC, she was a daughter of the late Wylie Lemuel “W.L” and Eula Mae McNaughton Baker. She was a former civil court clerk for Kershaw County. Mrs. Phillips was a faithful member of Bethune Presbyterian Church, where she served as church treasurer. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge and spending time with her family and grandsons. She loved the time she spent with her family at their cabin on Lake Wateree. Mrs. Phillips also loved Clemson football and watching her grandson play with Clemson Crew.
Surviving are her daughter, Beth P. Finch; 2 grandsons, Matthew Bryan Finch and Zachary Baker Finch; a sister, Sandy Baker Faver and her husband Howard; honorary daughter, Elizabeth Peters; nieces, Angela Neal, Melinda Williams, and Dr. Michelle Mayer; nephew, Robbie Robinson and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Edward “Snooky” Phillips and his wife Bonnie.
The family will receive friends, Thursday, May 18, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw, SC, and other times at the home.
