Myrtis Jolene Twitty, 86, of Rock Hill, S.C., passed away, Wednesday morning, October 9, 2024, at Harbor Chase Assisted Living, Rock Hill, S.C. Born in Kershaw County, she was a daughter of the late Minor and Madge Myrtis Johnson Sullivan. Mrs. Twitty had been battling several heath issues for the last few years. In God’s grace and mercy, He called her home to Heaven to live with Him for all eternity. Being the last of 11 children, she has now been reunited with her parents and her many brothers and sisters! 

In her early years, she was a faithful member of Oakhurst Baptist Church. Later in life she attended First Baptist Pickens and Waxhaw Baptist Churches. She and her husband, Francis enjoyed 66 years of marriage together and raised 5 children. In her own words, “They both agreed that their lifelong commitment would be to God first, to each other and to family. In their many travels from the East Coast to the West Coast, God was leading them. Without Him, they would not have been able to travel these 66 years together.” 

Mrs. Twitty was a registered nurse and spent most of her working career at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville, S.C. She enjoyed researching her genealogy, singing Gospel music, painting, and gardening. 

Mrs. Twitty is survived by her husband Francis Twitty, and 4 children, Cindy Twitty, Tony Twitty (Sylvie), Larry Twitty (Ann), and Danny Twitty (Carrie). Her grandchildren are Jody Twitty, Amanda Twitty, Jeremy Twitty, Cody Twitty, Grace Twitty, Matthew Twitty (Chelsea), Michael Twitty (Katie), Tiffany Yopp (Ben), Erin Twitty, Daniel Twitty, Elin Twitty. She also has 9 great-grandchildren. 

In addition to her parents, Minor and Madge Sullivan, Mrs. Twitty was preceded in death by a son, William Joseph Twitty, 5 sisters, Emma Dine S. Wright, Margarite S. Rollins, Bobbie Ruth S. Payne Reeves, Etta Mae S. Williams and Mary Louise S. Jackson and 5 brothers, Steve Preston Sullivan, Mendol Johnson Sullivan, James Muroe Sullivan, Robert Franklin Sullivan and William Howard Sullivan. 

Funeral services for Mrs. Twitty will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday afternoon, October 12, 2024, at Baker Conference Center, 105 North Minor Street, Kershaw, S.C. Dr. Larry Twitty will officiate. The burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery,190 Kirkland Ave., Kershaw, S.C. 

The family will greet friends at 1:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service at Baker Conference Center.
