Funeral services for Milburn Judson Ogburn, 84, of Bethune, will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, December 30, 2010, in Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Revs. Terry Corder, Todd Montgomery and Thomas Sullivan will officiate.
Mr. Ogburn died Monday, December 27. Born in Jefferson, he was the son of the late Loranza and Ola Holley Ogburn. He retired from Springs Industries after 30 years of service. Mr. Ogburn was an avid gardener and could be found early in the mornings working his fields and sharing his vegetables with the neighborhood. He loved his church, serving in many capacities as a deacon, usher, and grounds caretaker for 35 plus years. Mr. Ogburn was blessed to have so many friends. He was also US Navy veteran serving in the Pacific during World War II.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years; Clarine Sullivan Ogburn of the home, 2 sons; David Ogburn of Charlotte, N.C., Wayne Ogburn of Lexington, 2 daughters; Janice Conroy (Jim) of Waxhaw, N.C. And Holley A. Williams (Derrick) of Greensboro, N.C., 4 grandchildren; Rachel Conroy, Michael Conroy, Anna Ogburn and Claire Williams, 2 sisters; Vivian O. Horton (Buck) of Kershaw, Belinda O. Blackmon (Dan) of Lancaster, a brother; Corinda Ogburn (Coleen) of Bethune and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends, Wednesday, December 29 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home and other times at the home; 2073 John Munn Road, Bethune.
Mr. Ogburn, Juddy as many of his friends called him was always a humble man, a good husband, father and a hard worker in all that he did. He will be missed by all that knew him.
