Funeral services or Meta Mungo Payne, 90 of Kershaw will be held Thursday, February 6, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. in Pineview Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the White Bluff Baptist Church Cemetery where she was a former member for 60 years. The Revs. Greg Gunter and Doug Humphries will officiate. Mrs. Payne, widow of Pershing Benjamin Payne, died Tuesday, February 4, 2014, in White Oak Manor, Lancaster. Born in Kershaw, she was the daughter of the late Lawson E. and Bessie Catoe Mungo. Mrs. Payne retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Pineview Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Nancy P. Mackey (William) of Heath Springs; a son, Timothy E. Payne (Peggy) of Mesa, AZ; 6 grandchildren, Susan Robertson (Marty) of Irmo, Leah Sturgis (Ward) of Kershaw, Amanda Berger (Mark) of Rock Hill, Jessica Parson of Kannapolis, NC, Rani Payne (Chris) of Tampa, FL, and Rikki Payne of Winter Park, FL; 14 great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Earlene Joyner, Loree Pate, Peggy Harmon all of Lancaster, and Kathryn Dabney of Fort Mill; a brother, Ray Mungo of Lancaster. She was predeceased by a daughter, Janice E. Payne; a son, Boyce J. Payne; a sister, Betty Short and brother, Robert Mungo. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the church Family Life Center.
