Mendel Lee Williams

A funeral service for Mendel Lee Williams, 73 of Kershaw, will be held at 3:00 o’clock p.m., Thursday, April 28, in the sanctuary of Pineview Baptist Church, Kershaw. The Rev. Trent McLaughlin will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Masonic rites.

Mr. Williams passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, April 25, surrounded by his family. Born in Kershaw, he was a son of the late Dendy and Eva Coates Williams. Mr. Williams retired from Dupont Co. after 24 years of service. He was a founding member and deacon of Pineview Baptist Church. Mr. Williams was a member and served as past Master, three times of Flat Rock Masonic Lodge # 178. He was also a former shriner. Mr. Williams loved his tractor and the outdoors.

Surviving are his wife, Frances Dabney Williams of the home; his daughter, Paula Williams Lance and her husband Gene of Kershaw; his granddaughter, Lauren Lee Lance of Columbia; a step-son, Scott Dabney and his special friend Ann of Kershaw; a step-daughter, Ginger D. Lewellen and her husband Scott of Campobello; 2 step-grandchildren, Greyson Dabney of Kershaw and Meredith Lewellen of Campobello; 3 brothers, Joe Earl Williams and his wife Peggy, John Henry Williams and his wife Carol, Donald Williams and his wife Jenell all of Kershaw, a sister, Margie W. Farmer and her husband Lynell of Bethune and a sister-in-law, Linda E. Williams of Kershaw. He was preceded in death by his son, Hal Randall Williams; a brother, Quinn Williams and a step-daughter, Cindy Dabney Baker.

The family will receive friends anytime at the home, 7620 Hal Williams Rd., Kershaw.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Williams may be made to Pineview Baptist Church, 224 Young’s Bend Road, Kershaw, SC 29067.
