Graveside services for Mattie Seegars, 96, will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 24, at Kershaw City Cemetery. Rev. Bryant D. Fersner will officiate.
Miss Seegars passed away Thursday evening March 18, at the home of her beloved niece, Elizabeth Kahn in Woodway, Texas.
Mattie was born in the Taxahaw Community of Kershaw, September 12, 1913. She was the daughter of the late Robert Levi and Helen Massey Seegars. Mattie was a loyal and faithful employee, working 50 years with the Kershaw Oil Mill and several years with Archer Daniels Midland, Co. She served on the Board of Directors for the John T. Stevens Foundation, serving as their secretary. She was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church.
Although, Mattie never married, she lived a long and successful life, filled with much happiness with her family and friends.
Surviving are her niece; Elizabeth Kahn, two great nieces and one great nephew, three great great nieces, and one great great nephew.
She was preceded in death by two sisters; Alice Derrick and Mary Helen Brewington and a brother; Bill Seegars.
The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the cemetery.
