Mary Ruth Preslar

Mary Ruth Preslar, 89, passed Sunday, June 25, 2023, at Northside Hospital in Cumming, Georgia. Born in Jefferson, SC, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Franklin Mungo and Nettie Magnum Mungo.

In the words of Mrs. Preslar, she loved the Lord, her family, and her friends. Being the youngest of nine children, she was looking forward to seeing her loved ones who had already passed. She loved reading her Bible and watching sermons from her home church, Mt. Pisgah Baptist, on Facebook live. Mrs. Preslar was talented with arts and crafts, specifically crocheting, and often made blankets and scarves as gifts for others. She always had a way of making people laugh and laughed a lot herself. She loved hearing the latest about her grandchildren and great grand grandchildren, connecting with them and others, Facebook, having her family together, bird watching and tending her flowers.

Surviving are two sons, Randall (Tami) Jones of Lugoff, SC and Barry (Krystal) Jones of Moncks Corner, SC; two daughters, Paulette (Andy) Rice of Cumming, Ga., and Karen Sims of Kershaw, SC; 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 15 nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Preslar, two brothers, Woodrow Mungo and Robert Mungo and four sisters, Molevia Deese, Mattie Roberts, Lucille Elliott, Jessie Allen: two infant sisters: daughter, Julie Weeks and a grandson, Daniel Weeks.

A celebration of life funeral service will be held Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church sanctuary, 2140 McBee Highway, Jefferson, S.C.

The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the church Fellowship Hall.
