Mary Elizabeth Whitley Catoe

Mary Elizabeth Whitley Catoe, age 84 of Kershaw, S.C. passed away, Saturday morning, November 30, 2024, at her home. She was born in Kershaw, S.C. to the late Thomas Wylie Whitley and Ethel Estelle Bowers Whitley on April 16, 1940. She previously worked in the dietary department at Lancaster County Care Center, now known as Lancaster Health and Rehabilitation, Lancaster, S.C. She was also a member of Center Grove Baptist Church.

She is survived by 2 sons; Joe Ervin (Dora) Catoe of Lancaster, S.C. and Steven Elliott Catoe of Kershaw, S.C.; 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Oscar Eugene (Darlene) Whitley of Lancaster, S.C. and Richard Wayne (Doris) Whitley of Camden, S.C. 3 sisters; Mattie Sue Allman of Lancaster, S.C., Joann (Will) Catoe of Heath Springs, S.C. and Patricia Gail (Larry) Vincent of Kershaw, S.C. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert William Catoe; 2 daughters, Deborah Kay Catoe and Sherry Lisa Broome; a brother, John Thomas Whitley; a sister, Ruby Doris Green and 1 great grandchild.

A graveside service will be held Monday, December 2, 2024, at 12:00 noon in Center Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Kershaw, S.C. The Rev. Mitchell Austin will officiate. The burial will follow in the cemetery.

The family will greet friends following the graveside service in the cemetery.
