Martha S. Poston

Martha Starnes Poston, 78, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away, Wednesday morning, April 20, 2022, at her home. Born in Kannapolis, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Vance Thomas Starnes and Della Ivey Starnes. She was a retired seamstress. Mrs. Starnes enjoyed fishing, shopping, traveling to the mountains and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Griggs Poston, October 14, 2021.

She is survived by her son, Billy Griggs Poston, Jr. and his fur babies, “Patches”, “Cookie” and “Rescue” known as “Bull” and her fur baby, “Petey”. She is also survived by her brother, William B. Starnes and his wife, Beulah Collins Starnes of Lancaster, S.C. and Peggy Collins of Lancaster, S.C. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Hazel Starnes, Fred Clarence Starnes, Zeb Thomas Starnes and Baby Boy Starnes.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Starnes maybe made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

The family will greet friends, Friday, April 22, 2022, one hour prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home.

Funeral services will begin at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Haile Gold Mine Baptist Church Cemetery.
