Mark Douglas Catoe, 73 of Kershaw, S.C., passed away at his home on January 22, 2025. Born in Lancaster, S.C., he was the son of the late James Cecil Catoe and Sara Lee Christine Byrd Catoe. He graduated from the last class of Kershaw High School in 1969 and began working at Grace Bleachery. He enlisted in the Air Force on December 12, 1969. He served a year in Thailand during the Vietnam War and got out on December 11, 1973. He returned to work at Grace Bleachery for 17 years. Mark was a United States Postal Service Rural Mail Letter Carrier for 21 years serving in Heath Springs, S.C.
Mark was a faithful lifetime member of Sand Hill Baptist Church. He was very active serving as a Deacon, RA Leader, Youth Leader, Sound Technician, and a member of the Buildings and Ground Committee over the years. He was also a member of Abney Masonic Lodge # 211.
Mark enjoyed doing missions with World Changers, Disaster Relief, Kershaw Youth Serve, and various churches. His hobbies were woodworking and handyman. He loved traveling to Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean, Nova Scotia, and out west to Yellowstone National Park.
Mark is survived by his wife of 52 years, Delores Cauthen Catoe, his three children: Chris Catoe and his wife, Robin of Rock Hill, S.C.; Cary Catoe Pardue and her husband, Chase of Heath Springs, S.C. and Adam Scott Catoe and his fiancée, Jessica Pacheco of Gaffney, S.C.; his four grandchildren: Barrett Catoe of Rock Hill, S.C., Hanna Hewitt of Heath Springs, S.C., and Rebecca and Katie Pardue of Kershaw, S.C.; his four brothers, Jimmy Catoe of Kershaw, S.C., Danny Catoe and his wife, Myra of Surfside Beach, S.C., Dennis Catoe and his wife, Janet of Kershaw, S.C. and Kim Catoe of Kershaw, S.C., and many nephews and nieces.
The family will greet friends, one hour prior to he service in the church Fellowship Hall beginning at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 26, 2025.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. in Sand Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Owens officiating. A burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors and Masonic Rites.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sand Hill Baptist Church, 6895 Hwy 341, Kershaw, S.C. 29067.
