Funeral services for Marie Hegler Johnson, 74 of Kershaw, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 7, in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church. Rev. Bryant D. Fersner and Rev. Jeff Shaffer will officiate. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery.

Mrs. Johnson died Saturday, September 3, at her home. Born in Kershaw, she was a daughter of Sallie Sowell Hegler and the late Timothy Howard Hegler. Mrs. Johnson was a graduate of Winthrop College majoring in home economics. During her career, she was a home economist for the Clemson extension office in Laurens, taught home economics at Camden High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church, the Fallaw Sunday school class and choir member. Mrs. Johnson was also a Mary Kay cosmetics consultant and enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and music.

Surviving in addition to her mother of Kershaw are her husband of 43 years, Paul S. Johnson, Sr., of the home; a daughter, Heather Marie Johnson and her friend, Andy Barker of Mt. Pleasant, SC; a son, Paul S. Johnson, Jr. of James Island; 2 step-daughters, Lawone J. Lane and her husband Danny of South Port, NC and Samone J. Hopkins of Vienna, VA; a grandson, Jacob H. Johnson of the home; 3 step-grandchildren, Michael B. Lane, Claire E. Lane and Samantha R. Hopkins; a brother, Timothy H. Hegler, Jr. and his wife Nancy and a sister, Sarah H. Ferguson and her husband Frank all of Kershaw.

The family will receive friends, Tuesday, September 6, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
