Margie was born April 5, 1929 and died March 26, 2019.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vancy C. Robinson and Kate Payne Robinson; her husband, Charles S. Ballard; her son, Marty Ballard; and her siblings, Mary Hinson, James Robinson, Katie Thompson, and Jack Robinson.

Margie is survived by her daughter, Karen Ballard, of the home; her son, Stephen (Valerie) Ballard, of Lancaster SC; and her son, Tim Ballard, of Columbia SC.

Also surviving Margie are her grandchildren, Rich (Alexis) Ballard of North Myrtle Beach SC; Chad (Brantley) Ballard of Seneca SC; Liz (Neal) Crow of Marietta GA; Samuel Ballard of Watkinsville GA; John (Nancy) Petro of Ruffs Dale PA; Ken (Rachel) of Chesapeake VA; great grandchildren, Kori, Emma and Serrah Ballard and Kenny and Victoria Petro.

Siblings, Marcene Fields of Hampton GA; Esther (Gordon) Kennington of Kershaw SC; Ray (Donna) Robinson of Ft Lawn SC; sisters-in-law, Shirley Robinson of Rock Hill SC and Joan Robinson of Winterville NC and many nieces and nephews.

Margie was a graduate of Flat Creek High School and Winthrop University. Much of Margie’s career was spent as a church secretary. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, Kershaw SC, and held many leadership positions in the Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU) locally and statewide. She enjoyed her volunteer positions with WMU, a Sunday School Teacher at First Baptist, KARE (Kershaw Area Community Resource), and many other charitable organizations.

She loved cooking for family and friends, taking care of her many plants, and most of all – cheering for her Georgia Bulldogs.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the South Carolina Woman’s Missionary Union (SC WMU), 190 Stoneridge Dr, Columbia SC 29210.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, March 29, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, Kershaw. Officiating the service is the Revs. Elaine Henderson, Ray Robinson and Bryant D. Fersner. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Baker Funeral Home, Thursday evening, March 28, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
