Marcia Vinson Haynes, 92, of Heath Springs, SC passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Forest Lake Manor, Columbia, SC. Born on November 5, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Lewis and Eunice Vinson of Kershaw, SC. Marcia enjoyed a successful career with the DuPont May Plant in Camden, SC and retired in 1991. She was married to Edward Carson Hunter in April of 1955, and they built homes in Heath Springs and Lake Wateree where they spent many happy times with family and friends until his passing in 1987.

In May of 1991, Marcia married John T. (Tommy) Haynes, Jr. and became a beloved mother and grandmother to the Haynes family. Marcia loved children and always had a big smile on her face when talking about her grandchildren and attending their various events. She was a member of Heath Springs Baptist Church where she and Tommy were devoted to the many ministries of the church and most especially, preparing and serving delicious meals for so many. The joy she received from serving others was a shining example of her true Christian heart. In retirement, Marcia enjoyed spending time with family and friends at Lake Wateree, traveling and she was an avid gardener. Her home was recognized by the Lancaster County Council of Garden Clubs for Yard of the Month.

Surviving are her two sons, John Thomas Haynes, III (Kim), Jay Wilson Haynes (Lynn), grandchildren, John Wilson Haynes (Michelle), Mary Joanna Haynes, Maryann Haynes Tripp (Lance), Savanna Haynes Dorsey (Matt), and great grandchildren, Riley Nicole Haynes and Thomas Wilson Haynes.

She was preceded in death by husbands, John T. Haynes, Jr and Edward Carson Hunter, sisters, Addie Mae Poole and Iva Lee Watson.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Heath Springs Baptist Church with burial immediately following in the Kershaw City Cemetery. Dr. Frankie Melton will officiate. The family will receive friends at Baker Funeral Home, 210 East Hilton St., Kershaw, SC 29067 following the burial.

The family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude for the loving care provided by Vera Young as well as the staff of Forest Lake Manor, Columbia, SC.
