Marcelle Coates Sullivan

A funeral service for Marcelle Coates Sullivan, 84 of Lancaster and formerly of Kershaw will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 3, 2014, in the sanctuary of Kershaw Second Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery. The Revs. Hugh McKinney and Don Knight will officiate. Mrs. Sullivan died Sunday, August 31, 2014, at her home. Born in Kershaw, she was the daughter of the late Alex Montgomery and Dessie Wright Coates. She retired from the South Carolina Department of Social Services and was a member of Kershaw Second Baptist Church. She also enjoyed reading and talking to others. Surviving are her two sons, Tommy Sims and his wife Pansy of Hixson, TN, Keith Sims and his wife Ann of Belmont, NC; her daughter, Susan Gandy and her husband Mike of Kershaw; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren, and her sister, Mary Ann Truesdale of Kershaw. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Marion Sims; two brothers, Thomas and Charles Coates and two sisters, Margaret Tyson and Ruth Sims. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the church Family Life Center.
