Major William H. Fletcher, Usaf (Retired)

A memorial service for Major William Hagood Fletcher, USAF (Retired), 85 of Kershaw, SC, will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 29, 2015, at Baker Funeral Home Chapel. Inurnment will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Fletcher died Thursday, March 26, 2015, in KershawHealth, Camden, SC. Born in Kershaw, SC, he was a son of the late Oscar Alexander and Mary Williams Fletcher. Mr. Fletcher retired from the United States Air Force after 22 years of service to his country. He was a fighter pilot during the Vietnam Era. He also enjoyed woodworking. In previous years, Mr. Fletcher loved to hunt and fish. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Martha Lee Fletcher; a daughter, Sandra F. “Sandy” Thompson of Liberty Hill, SC; a son, Roger Fletcher of Anderson, SC; two sisters, Jean F. Bowers, Mary Ann Adams, and two brothers, Jesse Fletcher and Oren Fletcher. He was preceded in death by a sister, Myrtis Blackmon, and three brothers, Oscar, James and Robert Fletcher.
