Mae C. Flynn Thompson, 74, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at home in Kershaw, South Carolina. She was born in Springfield, MA, to the late Patrick A. and Mildred C. Billings Flynn and was a 1967 graduate of Springfield Trade High School.
She was always so personable, her house was always open, and she would listen and talk with people for hours. She loved going for motorcycle rides with her husband on their Harley—they traveled to and from Florida, Canada twice, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Maine, and Tennessee—just to name a few. She loved to plan special vacations to go to the farm in upstate New York and Florida visiting some of their best friends and closest family members, adventures with their daughter, Shannon, to Ireland, and taking road trips to be with her husband while he worked across the country and overseas. She enjoyed taking dance lessons with her friends, and she loved watching her daughters at dance practice, recitals, and competitions. She especially loved her granddaughter, Jordan, who was dear to her heart. She loved to play pool at Boston Billiards every Wednesday night up north and continued playing down in SC at Friendly Billiards every Saturday night when they moved seven years ago. Her #1 hobby was shopping and craft fairs! She could spend days in the stores and talking with different vendors with special talents. She worked closely with her daughter, Lonnie, in the office for several years at KeenKut Landscaping before she finally retired. She had the most impeccable work ethic and a knack for making sure things always got done and everything was kept on track and in order. She also had a way of keeping the girls’ best friends and neighborhood kids in line and out of trouble.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Kenneth W. Thompson, her two loving daughters, Lailonnie J. Keene (husband Stephen) of Southwick, MA, and Shannon L. Buldrini (husband Clinton) of Simsbury, CT, her four cherished grandchildren, Jordan Buldrini, Zack Keene, Brodie Keene, and Kaila Keene.
