Mae Nell Roach Collins

A graveside service for Mae Nell Roach Collins, 88 of Bethune, S.C., will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, September 25, in Bethel Cemetery, Bethune. Mr. Kenny Owens and Mr. Emerson Brown will officiate.

Mrs. Collins, widow of William Leroy Collins died Thursday, September 22, at her home. Born in the Buffalo Township of Kershaw, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Charlie Washington, Sr. and Sarah Burnettie Robinson Roach. She retired from Bethune Elementary School. Mrs. Collins was a member of Bethune Church of Christ. She also enjoyed gardening, fishing and crocheting. Her greatest joy in life was loving and spending time with her family.

Surviving are her children, William Ronald “Butter” Collins, Mark Elton Collins and his wife Carolyn, Mickey Leon Collins and his wife Janice and Kathy LaJean Collins all of Bethune; 3 daughters-in-law, Bobbie Collins and Brenda Collins both of Bethune and Wanda Collins of Hartsville; 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 4 sons, Donald Leroy “Catfish” Collins, David Lauren “Doc” Collins, Joel Timothy “Curly” Collins and Clarence Wilson Collins; a grandson, Timothy Scott Collins and siblings, Ethel Small, Oscar Roach, Luther Roach, Otis Roach, Maggie Inez Roach, Heward Odell Roach, Willie Roach, Daster Roach, Luvinia Roach, Colel Roach, Martha Carene Newman and Bertha Burnettie Griffin.

The family will receive friends, Sunday, September 25, prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home and other times at the home, 3166 Timrod Road, Bethune.
