Funeral services for L.T. Williams, 86, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 10, 2009, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery Rev. Bobby Owens will officiate.
Mr. Williams died Saturday, March 7, 2009, in Springs Memorial Hospital. Born in Kershaw, he was the son of the late John and Tinnie Raley Williams. Mr. Williams was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was retired from the Kershaw Oil Mill with 25 years of service as a truck driver. Mr. Williams was an insulator with Daniels Construction Co. in West Columbia for 12 years, a superintendent with the Lancaster Cotton and Oil Company for 6 years and later maintained the grounds of the Kershaw City Cemetery for 7 years. He served in the US Army from December 10, 1942 to December 17, 1945 touring in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He earned the following metals; Eamet Campaign Metal with Five Bronze Service Stars, American Theater Campaign Metal, Good Conduct Metal and Victory Metal.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years; Macey Raley Williams of the home, two daughters; Mrs. Judy W. Deese and Mrs. Dale (Vera) Faulkenberry all of Kershaw, four grandsons; Joe (Kathy) Ellis of McConnells, Darron (Becky) Deese of Marshville, N.C., Jason Deese, Chad (Beth) Faulkenberry all of Kershaw, one granddaughter; Paula Faulkenberry and her husband Jessie of Kershaw, eleven great grandchildren; Jessica, Brandon, Cameron, Trey, Jorden, Landon, Logan, Alyssa, Kalib, Josh and Peyton. He was predeceased in death by a daughter; Jo Anne Ellis, six brothers; Ross, Fen, Connie, Bill, Boyd, Robert Lee and two sisters; Sarah Ervin and Laura Demby.
