Mary Louise McLane Gregory, widow of Joseph Elbert Gregory, of Kershaw, died March 20, 2018 at the age of 93 in Rock Hill, surrounded by loving family members. Mrs. Gregory was born on Sept. 26, 1924 in Goodwater, Alabama, a daughter of the late John B. McLane and the late Mary Louise Conway McLane.
Mrs. Gregory was a graduate of Columbia College, Columbia. She taught in North Carolina before moving to Kershaw where she taught at Kershaw Middle School and Flat Creek Elementary School. When her grandchildren were small, she taught Sunday school at Kershaw United Methodist Church.
Surviving are 3 daughters, Mary Jo (Bob) Clark, Peggy (Dwayne) Hinson, and Alane (Reese) Mills, 7 grandchildren, Mandy (Champ) Williams of Kershaw, Leslie (Dixon) Parker of Heath Springs, Lindsay (Tip) Moore of Charlotte, Sarah (Bobby) Seigle of Virginia, Emily Bennett of New York, Gregory Bennett, and Drew Clark of Rock Hill, 2 step grandchildren, Kristi Bowers of Kershaw and Charlie Mills of Lancaster, and 16 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Gregory was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Joseph Elbert Gregory, 2 brothers, John B. McLane, Jr. and Conway Lee McLane and 3 sisters, Elizabeth McLane Blaich, Anne McLane Hough, and Jean McLane Mobley.
Memorial services will be held at Baker Funeral Home chapel on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 3:00 o’clock p.m. officiated by Reverend Nick Turner with visitation to follow.
