Lillian Mary Magill Twitty, 88, of Kershaw, S.C. passed away comfortably at home with her devoted daughter, Martha, son-in-law, Harrison and granddaughter, Jennifer McEntire on Sunday July 25,2021.
She was born in St. Petersburg, Florida on September 29, 1932 to the late Eva Lillian Morgan Magill and Arthur Rogers Magill. Lillian was the first of their three children. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister and best friend, Grace Magill Baker. Lillian leaves one much loved brother, Arthur (Marie) Magill.
Lillian graduated from Kershaw High School and married her high school sweetheart, J.D. Twitty in 1951. Lillian later worked as the high school secretary while J.D. served in the Army during the Korean War. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage and five children until his passing in 2009.
A longtime member of Kershaw Second Baptist Church, she served as the church clerk and on the Bereavement committee for many years. She also assisted with delivery of Meals on Wheels, attended Joy Group and held many other church roles. Lillian worked for several years with KARE. Anyone having met her would certainly comment on her sweetness and kind nature. Her children would tell you she instilled a clear understanding of right and wrong, that quitting was not a good option and that your real best friend is Jesus. She loved gardening, genealogy research, crafting and home improvement projects with her spouse and she was a talented seamstress. In later years she turned her love of arts to coloring books of many subjects and enjoyed Hallmark movies.
Lillian Twitty was supportive wife, giving mother, wise and caring grandmother and great grandmother. Lillian is survived by her daughters, Martha (Harrison)McEntire of Kershaw, Jane (Sam) Rinard of Lancaster, SC; her three sons, Roger (Tammy)Twitty of Kershaw, Jim Twitty of Lancaster, SC and John (Amy) Twitty of Seneca, SC. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Patrick (Heather)Roberts, Stuart (Amanda)Roberts, Jennifer McEntire, Josh (Maegan) Twitty, Karmen (Ryan) Pate, Whitney (Josh)Whitaker, Samantha Rinard, Rachel and John Twitty; and 17 great grandchildren, Wesley, Zachary, Lily, Brady, Sophia, Noah, Nate, Maverick, Maddox, Ansley, Jakob, Emma, Kate, Aiden, J.D., Colt and Mattie Grace and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, J.D. Twitty, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Britton Twitty.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 29th Baker Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Jason Moss officiating. Burial will be private at Beaver Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning from 2 until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
