Lilli Clark Gainey Kee, 96, of Heath Springs, S.C., passed away, Thursday, July 2, 2020, in Martha Franks Retirement Community, Laurens, S.C. Born in Chesterfield County, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Gainey and Arney Malloy Gainey. Mrs. Kee was an insurance agent for many years and a member of First Baptist Church, Kershaw. She was a World War II veteran and a member of the Lancaster American Legion Post # 31, where she had served as past commander. She had a passion for helping veterans. She wanted to make sure they were getting the benefits they deserved. Mrs. Kee loved to garden and work in her flower gardens at her home. She was married to the late Roy W. Kee, who predeceased her in 1990.
Surviving are her son, Bennie Kee and his wife, Tina of Heath Springs; 4 grandchildren, Blise Gainey and her husband Jonathan, Kayla Kee, Haley Kee and Shere Catoe and her husband Jimmy; 4 great grandchildren, Hunter Gainey, Weston Gainey, Alley Mae Gainey and Colton Edwards; a sister, Margie Steen and a brother, Dee Gainey.
A graveside service will be held, 2 p.m., Sunday, July 5, 2020, at Lancaster Memorial Park, Lancaster, S.C. Rev. Lonnie Brazell will officiate. Burial will follow in the cemetery with military honors.
The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.
