Lawrence W. Polson

Lawrence William “Larry” Polson, age 71, of Kershaw, S.C. died Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born in Camden, S.C., he was a son of the late Paul William Polson and Iva Lee “Polly” Owens Allen. Mr. Polson was retired from Bowater. Mr. Polson was a member of Abney Baptist Church where he was the former choir director, chairman of Deacons, and served in many various capacities. He loved to work in his garden, hunting and fishing. He was also an avid Carolina Gamecock and Atlanta Braves fan.

Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Judy Gardner Polson; his son, Lance Polson (Monica); his daughter, Deanna P. Boone (Rev. Eric); 5 grandchildren, Abby Laine Polson, Andrew Boone (Alyssa), Laurin Rae Polson, Seth Boone and Lawson Polson; 3 sisters, Veronica Wooten, Debbie Anderson (Jerry) and Sheryl Wesolowski and his brother, Richard Polson (Denise). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donnie Polson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in Abney Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Revs. Eric Boone, Scott Robinson, and Todd Gandy will officiate.

The family will receive friends Friday evening, July 26, 2024, at Baker Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
