Laura Ruth Young

Funeral services for Laura Ruth Waites Young, 85, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 19, 2010, in Oak Ridge Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Revs. Dale Myers and Bobby Owens will officiate.

Mrs. Young, widow of Erskine Young died Sunday, October 17, at her home. Born in Camden, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Dora Elizabeth Hasty Waites. Mrs. Young was retired from Springs Industries. She was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Louise Baker Sunday School Class. Mrs. Young had served her church in various capacities and taught Sunday School.

Surviving are 3 children; Judy Baker (Harold), Jack Young, Sara Bembridge (Mark) all of Kershaw, 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 sons; Robert Young, Alan Young, a grandson; Bronnie Baker, and 4 brothers; Grover Waites, Ralph Waites, Wallace Waites and Eddie Waites.

The family will receive friends, Monday, October 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home.
