A service to celebrate the life of LaBruce Wayne Roberts ,77, of Lancaster, will be held at 4:00 o’clock p.m., Sunday, July 1, 2018, in the sanctuary of Midway Baptist Church, Kershaw. The Revs. Steve Warren and Charles Cauthen will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Roberts died Thursday, June 28, 2018, at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, N.C. He was born on January 10, 1941 in Lancaster, S.C. He was a son of the late Hazel Roberts and Willie Dease Roberts.
Survivors include a daughter, Candace Robinson and her husband, Mike Robinson of Lancaster; a son, Tim Roberts and his wife Barbara Roberts of Chester and two brothers, Jerry Roberts of Kershaw and Mike Roberts of Lancaster.
Mr. Roberts graduated from Flat Creek High School in 1958 and continued his education at Kings College in Charlotte, N.C., where he graduated with a business degree. His work career began at Springs Customer Service Center and after graduating from the Palmetto Military Academy, continued with the SC National Guard, where he was honorably discharged with the rank of captain. He was the owner of Pleasant Dale Grocery and later, the Pantry Pak in Lancaster.
The family will receive friends Sunday, July 1, from 3:00 to 4:00 o’clock p.m. prior to the service in the church sanctuary.
