Kenneth Edward “Kenny” Parker, Sr., age 79, of Chester, S.C. and formerly of Kershaw, S.C., passed away, Saturday, August 31, 2024, at his home. Born in Kershaw, S.C., he was a son of the late Thomas Jefferson Parker, Sr. and Nannie Ruth McNaughton Parker. He was a graduate of Kershaw High School and served in the United States Navy serving on the USS Forrestal. He worked in the printing department for Springs Industries at Grace Bleachery, retiring in 2009. After he retired, he was the head cook at Hard Times Café in Cassatt, S.C. where he lived for many years. During his high school years, he was the projectionist at the Center Theater in Kershaw before joining the Navy.
He is survived by his daughter, Paula Parker; his son, Kenneth Edward Parker, Jr.; his step-daughter, Kayela Corbett; 4 grandchildren, Matthew (Christy) White, Aaliyah (Jonathan) Rodriguez, Christopher White and Greyson Parker; 7 great grandchildren and 3 sisters, Ruby Cunningham of Kershaw, S.C., Linda (Travis) Bowers of Westville, S.C., and Sylvia (Ron) Rambo of Evans, GA.. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews including his much beloved niece, Sheryl Crenshaw. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Roland Parker and Tommy Parker and a sister, Martha Ann Parker. Kenny will be remembered as a devoted father and brother.
Friends may pay their respects and sign the register book, Wednesday, September 4, 2024, from 12:30 noon to 5:00 P.M. at Baker Funeral Home, 210 E. Hilton Street, Kershaw, S.C. The family will be present from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Friends may also visit at his daughter's home or his sister's Linda's home, Tuesday, September 3, 2024 from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.
