Julia Alvarez Mendez

Mass of Christian burial for Julia Alvarez Mendez, 92, will be celebrated at 11:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 21, 2010 in St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Lancaster. Father David A. Runnion, Celebrant. Graveside committal services will be held in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Camden following the Mass at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 21.

Ms. Mendez died at her home, Saturday, July 17, 2010. Born in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Tito Alvarez Rivera and Benedicta Rosario Cruz. She had worked in a restaurant in New York and worked in a laundry service in Miami. She was of Catholic faith.

Surviving are 2 daughters; Mirian Gonzalez of Bronx, NY, Araceles Loiseau of Kershaw , a son; Norberto Mendez of Kershaw, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, and 5 sisters; Maria Alvarez, Sabina Abraham, Marganita Cardrony, Ramona Aguilar and Angela Lopez.

The family will gather at the funeral home, Tuesday, July 20, 2010, for a wake service from 5:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.
