Joyce Sims Payne

Joyce Sims Payne, age 83, of Heath Springs, S.C., died Wednesday morning, July 12, 2023, in Lancaster Health and Rehabilitation Center, Lancaster, S.C. Born in Lancaster, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Roy Sims and Annie Hinson Sims.

Mrs. Payne retired from Duracell and was a member of Fork Hill Baptist Church. She loved singing in the choir, her church family, listening to music and working in her yard.

Surviving is her daughter, Michelle Eddins (Darrell) of Heath Springs, S.C.; four grandchildren, Ashleigh Payne (Bree) of Aiken, S.C., Barbara Snead (Chris) of Littleton, N.C., Joey Payne (Ashley) of Chester, S.C. and Dustin Eddins (Erin) of Heath Springs, S.C.; four great grandchildren, Levi, Leland, Kinsley, and Audrey; her sister, Sylvia Fields of Heath Springs, S.C.; her brother, Albertus Sims (Ruth) of Indian Trail, N.C. and Caregiver, Crystal Pressley. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Payne was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Huey “Bootsie” Payne; her daughter, Robin McMillin, her son, Marty Payne, and 9 brothers and sisters.

A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held Friday, July 14, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in Fork Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Heath Springs, S.C. Rev. Dale Walters, and Pastor Chris Snead will officiate.

Memorials may be made to Fork Hill Baptist Church, 1125 Fork Hill Road, Heath Springs, S.C. in memory of Mrs. Payne
