Funeral services for Johnny Ray Usher, 66 of Kershaw will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 30, 2013, at Baker Funeral Home. The Revs. Dr. Frankie Melton and Chadwick Ivester will officiate. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery. Mr. Usher died Thursday, June 27, at his home. Born in Pageland, S.C., he was the son of the late William Ervin and Beulah Mae Cagle Usher. Mr. Usher worked for Caro-Knit for 33 years and retired from Conbraco after 10 years. Surviving are his wife; Joyce Oliver Usher of the home, 2 daughters; Donna Usher Pruitt and her husband Chris of Chesterfield, Glenda Usher Denkins and her husband Kevin of Kershaw, 2 sons; Barry Usher of Chesterfield, J.R. Usher of Kershaw, 7 grandchildren; Michael and Jacob Pruitt, Tyler and McKenzie Denkins, Sadie Usher, William Earwood and Alex Usher, 2 great grandchildren, 2 sisters; Louise Phillips and her husband Odell of Kershaw, Inez Melton of Kershaw and a niece; Debbie Edwards of Pageland. He was preceded in death by a sister; Betty Edwards and a brother; Carson Usher. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 30, at the funeral home and other times at the home, 102 Blackmon Circle, Kershaw. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Homecare and Hospice of Lancaster, 920 West Meeting Street, Lancaster, S.C. 29720.
