Funeral services for Johnny Dease, 61, will be held Friday, April 1, at 3:00 p.m. at Oak Ridge Baptist Church. Burial with Military Rites will follow in Kershaw City Cemetery.
Rev. Dale Myers and Chaplain Roger Shuford will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of S.C., 412 N. White Street, Lancaster, S.C. 29720 or John Hopkins Medicine, Lung Cancer Research, One Charles Center, 100 North Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21201.
Mr. Dease died at his home Wednesday, March 30. Born in Kershaw, he was the son of Jeanette Faulkenberry Dease and the late Claude Dease. Mr. Dease worked for Springs Industries for 40 years as a lab technician. He was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church and a US Army veteran. Mr. Dease loved drag racing and fishing.
Surviving are his wife,Vicki Kennington Dease; his mother of Kershaw; a daughter, Karen M. Mitchum (Robert) of Kershaw; granddaughters, Amanda N. Mitchum and Brittany M. Mitchum both of Kershaw; great granddaughter, Aaliah S. Dease; great grandsons, Blake P. Adams and Amare H. Phillips all of Kershaw; sisters, Pauline Hinson of Kershaw, Shirley Bradley (Cliff) of Kershaw, Sandra Taylor (Gary) of Kershaw; brothers, Charles Dease (Linda) of Lancaster, and Kenneth Dease (Alice) of Heath Springs. He was predeceased by a brother, Oscar Dease.
