A service to celebrate the life of Johnnie Willard Jones, 77, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 30, 2008, in Salem United Methodist Church.
Mr. Jones died Thursday, November 27, 2008, in Palmetto Heath Richland Hospital, Columbia. Born in Bethune, he was the son of the late Cramer Willard and Edna Elizabeth Stokes Jones. He was a retired educator and coach teaching at the former Heath Springs High School. He was a mentor for the United Way, a member of Heath Springs Lions Club and Salem United Methodist Church. Mr. Jones was a US Air Force veteran serving in the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife; Shannon Correll Jones of the home, a daughter; Tilara J. Monroe and her husband Ted of Lugoff, 2 grandchildren; Katherine Lee Chappell and Kyle Chappell, 2 brothers; Bobby T. Jones and his wife Dr. Mary Jones of Camden and Vachel Jones and his wife Jeannie of Irmo. The family would like to thank the Doctors and Staff of the Fifth Floor Surgical Unit at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital for care shown to the family.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
