A funeral service for Johnnie Hegler “Trudy” Woody, 85 of Kershaw, SC will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 18, 2014, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home. Rev. Dr. Donald J. McManus will officiate. Entombment will follow in the family mausoleum in Kershaw City Cemetery. Mrs. Woody, widow of Douglas Arlie “Doug” Woody died Friday, November 14, at Southwinds Assisted Living, Ridgeway, SC. Born in Kershaw, SC, she was a daughter of the late John E. and Helen Faulkenberry Hegler. Mrs. Woody was a homemaker, enjoyed sewing, and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She also was a substitute teacher in the Andrew Jackson area school system for over 13 years. Mrs. Woody was a member of First Baptist Church, The King Alfred Garden Club and the Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are two daughters, Helen W. Peterson and her husband Rodney of Kershaw, SC, Trudy Arlene Waite of Orlando, FL; a grandson, Stephen Peterson and his wife Donna of Heath Springs, SC; a granddaughter, Randal Waite of Orlando, FL; a great grandson, Adrian Peterson of Heath Springs, SC; her sister, Ann Gruber and her husband Walt of Cary, NC and three nephews. The family will receive friends, Monday, November 17, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home.
