John Thomas Whitley

Funeral services for John Thomas Whitley, 65, will be held Saturday, November 26, at 2:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Kershaw City Cemetery. Rev. Trent McLaughlin will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday, November 25, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children- Greenville, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, S. C. 29605-4277. Mr. Whitley died Tuesday, November 22, at his home. Born in Kershaw, he was the son of the late Thomas Wylie and Ethel Bowers Whitley. Mr. Whitley was employed with Haile Gold Mine, Inc. and attended Antioch Baptist Church, Lancaster. He was also a US Army veteran. Surviving are his daughter, Rebecca Langley of Kershaw; son, Adam Whitley of Kershaw; 4 grandchildren; sisters, Sue Allman of Lancaster, Joann Catoe of Heath Springs, Lib Catoe, Ruby Green, and Patricia Vincent all of Kershaw; brothers, Oscar “Gene” Whitley of Lancaster, and Ricky Whitley of Elgin. He was predeceased by a son, Jason Whitley.
