John Thomas Payne

Funeral service for John Thomas Payne, 81, will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, June 1, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery. The Revs. Hugh McKinney and Jamie Rogers will officiate.

Born in Kershaw, he was the son of the late Hubert and Ella Lucas Payne. Mr. Payne died Friday, May 29, at his home. He was retired from Springs Industries and a member of Kershaw Second Baptist Church. Mr. Payne enjoyed growing flowers, working in his garden and cooking. He was married to the late Mary Hunter Payne.

Surviving are a daughter; Debbie Lane of Camden, two sons; Danny Payne and his friend, Annie and Wes Payne all of Kershaw, a granddaughter; Corrie Lane of Charleston, a sister; Betty Deese of Kershaw, two brothers; Nelson Payne of Heath Springs and Truman Payne of Kershaw. He was preceded in death by four sisters; Clara Mae Stroud, Mabel Coates, Emma Payne and Annie Grace Payne, and two brothers; J.B. Payne and Willie Payne.

The family will receive friends, Sunday, May 31, from 5 to 7 PM at Baker Funeral Home.
