John Robert Chappell

Funeral services for John Robert Chappell, 70, of 1323 Grave Ave., Lancaster will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 25, 2011, in Abney Baptist Church, Kershaw. The Revs. Dr. Todd Morris and Calvin Snipes will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Chappell died Saturday, January 22, in Springs Memorial Hospital, Lancaster, Born in Chesterfield, he was the son of the late William and Mary Lee Meona Collins Chappell Steen. Mr. Chappell was a retired Truck Driver.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years; Lucille Ivey Chappell of the home, 5 daughters; Julie Waites, Kershaw, Mary Childers, Lancaster, Kathleen Chappell, Lancaster, Rita Humphries (Larry), Kershaw, Michelle Purvis, Lancaster, 5 sons; Donald Chappell (Vickie), Heath Springs, James Chappell, Lancaster, Frank Chappell (Patricia), Lancaster, John Chappell, Lancaster, Raeford Chappell (Leigh), Lancaster, Justin Moseley, Kershaw, 27 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 2 sisters; Sadie Baker, Lancaster, Mamie Reeze, Tampa FL, 3 brothers; Freddie Chappell, Lancaster, Willie Chappell, Bentonville, S.C.and Jimmy Chappell, Barnwell, N.C.. He was preceded in death by a daughter; Liza Jane Chappell.

The family will receive friends, Monday, January 24, from 6:00 to 7:30 at Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw and other times at the home of his son; 172 Bite Lane, Heath Springs, S.C.
