John Hendricks Corder, age 38 of Glendive, Montana passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at the Glendive Medical Center in Glendive. A memorial service was held at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at The Church in The Heights with Reverend Jeff Cahill officiating and Reverend Chris Sullivan and Reverend Terry Corder assisting.


John was born on August 13, 1985, in Anderson, South Carolina to his parents Terry and Debra (Hendricks) Corder. The family moved to Liberty, South Carolina, Wake Forest, North Carolina and Skippers, Virginia before settling in Rock Hill, South Carolina where John attended Northwestern High School. There, he played two years of football and graduated with the class of 2003. Following high school, he went to Tigerville, South Carolina and attended North Greenville University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Christian Studies in 2007. He was a part-time Youth Pastor at Bethel Baptist Church in York, South Carolina and later the Associate Pastor with an emphasis on youth and children at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Elgin, South Carolina.


John was united in marriage to Jenny Marie Sullivan on June 06, 2009, at Beulah Baptist Church in Fountain Inn, South Carolina. They lived in Elgin, South Carolina for fourteen years before moving to Glendive in June of 2022. John was a church planter with the North American Mission Board, Pastor of The Church in the Heights, and worked for Youth Dynamics.

John loved Jenny and anything that made her happy. He was an avid outdoorsman with a zeal for duck hunting and trout fishing. John was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow. He had an infectious smile and laugh, with a heart of gold. John enjoyed life to the fullest while meeting and getting to know people to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. His joy was living out his dream of serving the Lord by planting a church in Glendive, Montana.


He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Dr. Owens and Gertie Corder and his maternal grandparents, Emory, and Willie Hendricks.


John is survived by his loving wife, Jenny of Glendive, his parents, Terry and Debra Corder of Jefferson, South Carolina; his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Kyle Eubanks of Bethune, South Carolina; five nephews, four nieces and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.


A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, January 25th, 2024, at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, 2140 McBee Highway, Jefferson, SC 29718, directed by Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw, S.C.


The family will greet friends immediately following the memorial service in the church Family Life Center.
