John Douglas 'Doug' Graves

A service to celebrate the life of John Douglas “Doug” Graves, 73 of Kershaw will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 6, 2013, in First Presbyterian Church, Kershaw. A private family burial will be held prior to the service in the Kershaw City Cemetery. Rev. Dr. Jesse Hegler will officiate. Mr. Graves died Tuesday, October 1, 2013, in KershawHealth, Camden. Born in Kershaw, he was the son of the late John M. and Edna Mary Blackmon Graves. Mr. Graves was the manager and store clerk for Belk’s Department Store in Kershaw for 25 years, divisional manager for Belk’s of Lancaster for 3 years and was the procurement director for Lancaster County School District for 15 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he was a Deacon, Elder and was currently chairman of the Buildings and Grounds committee. He also had served as a member of Kershaw School Board for 8 years, Lancaster County School Board for 4 years and a former member of Kershaw Jaycees. Surviving are his wife, Sandra Williams Graves of the home; his son, Douglas Kyle Graves and his wife Frances; his daughter, Kendra Graves Bailey and her husband Rick; 5 grandchildren, Hunter Bailey, Jake Bailey, Abbie Bailey, Lily Graves and Seth Graves; 2 brothers, James B. Graves and Stephen B. Graves and his wife Liz. The family will receive friends, following the service in the church fellowship hall and other times at the home, 6274 Parker Drive, Kershaw. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church - Building Fund, P.O. Box 611, Kershaw, SC 29067.
