John Coleman Mcmanus

A funeral service for John Coleman McManus, age 70 of Camden, SC, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2016, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery.

Mr. McManus died Sunday, January 3, at his home. Born in Kershaw, he was a son of the late E.J., Sr. and Etta Melton McManus. Mr. McManus retired from General Tire. He was a graduate of Flat Creek High School and was a member of Pleasant Dale Baptist Church, Lancaster. He enjoyed fishing, riding four wheelers, shagging, picking the guitar and singing with his family.

Surviving are his two children, Tim McManus of Camden, Wendy McManus Coleman of Chapin; a granddaughter, Caroline Elizabeth Coleman of Chapin; five brothers, Olin McManus of Lancaster, James McManus of Heath Springs, Henry McManus of Kershaw, Carl Lee McManus of Marietta , GA, Ralph McManus of Heath Springs; five sisters, Louise M. Bowers, Lillian M. Phillips, Alene M. Catoe, Mary Helen Phillips, Dori M. Kullman of Kansas, MO, and the mother of his children, Kay McManus Douglas. He was preceded in death by wife, Patricia Lane Presley McManus, a brother, E.J. McManus, Jr. and a sister, Mae Doris M. Hinson.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 6, at the funeral home.
