John C. Mcwilliams

John Charles “Spanky” McWilliams, age 75, of Kershaw died Wednesday, January 3,2024 at MUSC Health Lancaster Medical Center, Lancaster, S.C. Born in Camden, S.C., he was the son of the late Delbert William McWilliams and Ollie Dare Mills McWilliams.

Mr. McWilliams retired from DuPont Company after 34 years of service. He was a charter member of Oakhurst Baptist Church. He enjoyed reading western novels, woodworking, spending time with his grandchildren, and he loved his cats. John was a good storyteller and friend to all. He was a United States Army veteran serving during the Vietnam Era.

Surviving is his wife of 49 years, Cynthia Bell McWilliams; 2 sons, Stephen McWilliams, and Scott McWilliams (Vanessa);  4 grandchildren, Austin McWilliams, Evan McWilliams, Emma Rose McWilliams, and Braylee Blair. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Gloria Henson.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in Oakhurst Baptist Church, Heath Springs, S.C. with Reverend Sean Stroud officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends following the burial in the church family life center.
