Funeral services for James Dixon J.D. Twitty, 79, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 12, in Kershaw Second Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery, Westville. The Revs. Jamie Rogers, Don Knight and Hugh McKinney will officiate.
Mr. Twitty died Wednesday, June 10, at his home. Born in Kershaw, he was the son of the late Virge Carmel and Mary Dixon Twitty. Mr. Twitty was retired from Bowater, Inc. and was a member of Kershaw Second Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and former Sunday School teacher. He was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed working with Youth Serve summer program. Mr. Twitty was a US Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife; Lillian Magill Twitty of the home, two daughters; Martha T. McEntire (Harrison) of Kershaw, Jane T. Rinard (Sam) of Lancaster, three sons; Roger Twitty (Tammy) of Kershaw, Jim Twitty of Lancaster and John Twitty (Amy) of Seneca, ten grandchildren; Patrick Roberts (Heather), Stuart Roberts(Amanda), Jennifer McEntire, Josh Twitty, Karmen Twitty, Samantha Rinard, Britton Twitty, Whitney Twitty, Rachel Twitty and John Nicholas Twitty, six great grandchildren, a sister; Voncelle Outen of Kershaw and a brother; Clayton Twitty (Leitha) of Lugoff.
The family will receive friends, Thursday, June 11, from 6 to 8 P.M. at Baker Funeral Home.
