Funeral services for Jannette Hicks Hilliard, 80, of Heath Springs, will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, April 25, 2011 in Kershaw Second Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery. The Revs. Hugh McKinney and Dr. Bruce Price will officiate.

Ms. Hilliard died Friday, April 22, at her home. Born in Pageland, she was the daughter of the late Braskey Landon and Ethel Mical Hicks. She retired from the Lancaster County School System after 34 years of service. Ms. Hilliard was very active in her community, serving as the Chairman of the annual Heath Springs July Fourth Parade , a member of Citizens for a Better Heath Springs and served several terms on the Heath Springs Town Council. She also had served as secretary to the Lancaster County Democratic Party and poll manager of the Heath Springs precinct. She was a member of the Lancaster County Retired Educators Association and a member of First Baptist Church, Lancaster where she was a Sunday School member and sang in the choir. She was married to the late William Wade Hilliard.

Surviving are 4 children; Mike Hilliard (Vickie) of Lancaster, Jan Couch (Mike), Cindy Reeves and Kathy Drye (Rocky) all of Heath Springs, 10 grandchildren; Allison Hilliard, Matthew Hilliard, Micah Rollins (Brandon), Brandi Runion (Josh), Ashley Couch, Sonya Price (Rev. Dr. Bruce Price), Tonya Koumas (Matthew), Landon Reeves, Cameron Drye and Chad Drye (Tammy), 11 great grandchildren, a sister; Patsy Holden (Willie) of Camden, a brother; Harry Hicks (Ethel) of Kershaw, and a brother-in-law; Harold Williams of Kershaw. She was preceded in death by a brother; Edward Maurice Hicks and 2 sisters; Mary Ann Williams and Jewell Hagins.

The family will receive friends, Monday, one hour prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m at the Kershaw Second Baptist Church Family Life Center and following the graveside service at the cemetery. The family is at the home, 113 Salem Street, Heath Springs, Saturday after 11:00 a.m..
